Business Studies and Economics are offered as individual subjects.

Business Studies
Business Studies investigates the operation of businesses. Students will have the opportunity to consider how business can improve to benefit customers, managers, owners and the public at large.

This subject provides an integrated study of the main areas of business - Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance and Economics. You will develop skills in analysis and evaluation of case studies.

Economics
Economics examines the ways in which the economy of a country can improve the quality of life for all its inhabitants. The subject deals with the global problems of poverty and wealth creation. It considers employment and unemployment, waste and efficiency; industrial expansion and contraction and economic growth and its consequences. It considers why countries trade with one another and what role the government should play in the economy. There is clearly much economic content in newspapers and on television (as it is a social science) therefore the subject is taught through the use of ICT and discussions However, emphasis is also placed on independent study. Economics is seen as a strong subject by Universities and combines well with a range of different subjects. For example, the analytical approach used is similar to Mathematics courses, while the essay writing and research techniques are similar to those in History, English and Psychology.
