In Year 8 the girls enjoy a study of the Roman Empire including Roman art; their army; slavery; education and law; entertainment; Roman religion and the fall.
During year 9, classes study the Ancient Greeks. The girls examine mythology; art and architecture, literature; Greek religion; the early Olympic Games and other forms of entertainment.
In year 10 and 11 we follow the OCR syllabus. The girls conduct an in-depth study for course work and 3 taught modules:
- Pompeii
- Homer’s Odyssey
- Athens
- Controlled Assessment
We are pleased to offer Classics as AS and A2 level for years 12 and 13. During their 10 lessons per two weeks a variety of units are studied including Greek tragedy (Aeschylus and Sophocles; Euripides), a Greek (Homer’s “Odyssey”) and Roman Epic (Virgil’s Aeneid”) in addition to the art and architecture of the Archaic and Classical Greece.
